Jiyan’s Remarkable Journey at Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre

Just 3 days after birth, little Jiyan developed convulsions and an MRI showed damage to the brain, leading to cerebral visual impairment and global developmental delay. In fact, he couldn’t even recognise his parents.

He was then diagnosed with West Syndrome, and treated at Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre. At the Hospital’s Early Intervention Centre, a thorough evaluation was conducted and rehabilitation course planned. A rigorous regimen for vision therapy and sensory integration was set up. Jiyan’s progress was tracked over time and a significant improvement was observed due to changes in his neural pathways, resulting from this cutting-edge therapy. Imagine being able to make a child see again, without any operation or invasive therapy!

At the age of 3 years and 8 months, Jiyan was able to walk independently, identify common objects and body parts. His vision had also greatly improved, along with his speech. The hospital team worked extensively with Jiyan for years to ensure his future goes well. And today, at the age of 6, Jiyan is able to see, learn, understand and act. With the efforts of his parents and follow-up therapy at the hospital, Jiyan’s condition continues to improve every single day!
