Spine Surgery Camp for the Rural Population

Spine Surgery Camp for the Rural Population

Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre organised a spine surgery camp for the locals from the villages of South Gujarat. The camp was led by Dr Shekhar Bhojraj of Spine Foundation and Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre, who is the first dedicated specialised spine surgeon in India; and Dr Gautam Zaveri – Consultant Spine Surgeon at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre and Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre. Over 340 people registered, several of whom were facing debilitating spine conditions. Apart from providing general check-up and diagnostic and consultation services, multiple intricate and complex spine surgeries were conducted. Detailed after-care plans too were given. This camp was instrumental in providing a very specialised treatment in a rural location.

Also, over 115 medical professionals participated in a Continuing Medical Education programme that helped them to maintain competence and learn about new and developing areas of their field.
