The Early Childhood Development (ECD) Van Project

The Early Childhood Development (ECD) Van Project by Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre supports the cognitive and emotional development of children aged 0–3 years in the tribal regions of Dharampur and Kaprada in South Gujarat. The initiative delivers doorstep developmental support, caregiver education, and health awareness to families in remote communities during the most critical years of early brain development.
Through a mobile outreach model, trained community workers conduct play-based stimulation sessions for children while guiding mothers and caregivers on nutrition, breastfeeding, immunization, hygiene, and screen-free childhood. The programme also distributes learning kits, toys, and storybooks to encourage early learning at home.
The project aims to reach 1,500 tribal children and their caregivers across 50 hamlets each year, while working closely with Anganwadi workers, ASHAs, and community leaders to strengthen early childhood support systems and give children a strong and healthy start in life.
